The Career Field:
Cosmetology involves the science of improving beauty through the care and treatment of nails, skin, and hair. Cosmetologists provide a variety of nail services which include manicuring, pedicuring, gel polish, nail tips, and acrylic application. They also provide services in skin care such as waxing, facials, and make- up. The hair services offered by a Cosmetologist include hair cutting, styling, chemical texture services, and hair coloring. Cosmetologists also understand the importance of quality service, organization, teamwork and exceptional communication skills when working in this career field.
The Program:
As a student in the 4-year Cosmetology pathway at Public Service Leadership Academy, you will be prepared for a career in the beauty enhancement field. Classes follow the New York State approved curriculum required for taking the written and practical state licensing exams. The Cosmetology pathway offers students the unique opportunity to develop and practice their sills during clinic when students and staff are invited to make appointments for Cosmetology services.
