Electrical Trades

Do you enjoy making things work? Do you want to work both indoors and outdoors? Do you like solving problems and exercising your brain while working with your hands?

The Career Field:

Electricians install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems in homes, businesses, and factories.

With advancements in technology driving increasingly complex installation techniques for wiring, safety and repair, electricians are in high demand and will continue to be in the future.

As homes and businesses require more wiring, electricians will be needed to install the necessary components.

The Program:

From designing lighting systems to installing street lights and intercom systems to learning about the latest renewable energy concepts including solar, wind and geothermal technologies — this program provides the hands- on skill development and technical training you need to secure entry- level employment (or higher) in the electrical trades field.

Students in the Electrical Trades program at the Public Service Leadership Academy at Fowler will learn about:

  • Key theories behind digital electronics and circuitry
  • Installation of switches, receptacles, fire alarms, security systems, and motor controls
  • Intricacies of wiring
  • Connections and conductors
