Fire Rescue Program

Can you make critical decisions in high-pressure situations? Do you have a desire to help people in their time of need? Do you want to face a new challenge every day, or maybe even every hour?

The Career Field:

Firefighters are required to enter burning buildings to extinguish fires and rescue individuals. Firefighters may also be responsible for connecting hoses to hydrants, operating pumps to charge the lines, climbing ladders and using other tools to break through debris. They're also required to respond to other emergencies: car accidents, ice rescues, search and rescue, etc.

The Program:

As a student in the Fire-Rescue Pathway at the Public Service Leadership Academy, you will learn about fire prevention and develop critical skills necessary to handle challenges and demands of fire-prevention and a variety of emergencies. Fire-Rescue Cadets are taught in academy style instruction. Students are exposed to the same curriculum that career and volunteer firefighters are taught. When completing this pathway students will have prepared for the rigorous career of a firefighter or one of the other many job opportunities in the fire prevention career field.
