Do you like the idea of an active job working with your hands with opportunities to travel? Do you have an eye for detail?

The Career Field:

Welders build and repair metal structures, machines and equipment using specialized equipment that produces intense heat to fuse metal parts together. Welders work in a wide variety of industries, including construction, shipbuilding, car racing, oil and gas, mining, and manufacturing.

Employment in this field is projected to grow 6 percent from 2021 to 2031.

The Program:

he program is designed to prepare students for extended study in an apprenticeship, two-year college or employment. The skills taught are based on the Standards of the American Welding Society (AWS). The society and its standards are recognized worldwide as a benchmark for skilled welders.

Students will learn:

  • Aluminum and stainless steel TIG Welding
  • Basic and advanced practices of metal inert gas (MIG), stick and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding
  • Introduction to fabrication and repair
  • Metal art
  • Plasma and torch cutting
  • Safety (OSHA training)
