Individuals who possess an undergraduate degree often in a field or content area other than Education.

What?
Qualified candidates receive a full-year paid residency in the SCSD while they earn their Master’s Degree and teaching certification in one year. Candidates who successfully complete the program and residency will be
prioritized for hire into any available positions in their content area and will commit to teaching in the SCSD for a minimum of 2 years after the residency year.

Why?
The SCSD believes that candidates who work in our schools for a full year prior to hire will be more likely to find success and to want to build their career in our district.

Who?
Students enrolled in the Syracuse University Inclusive Special Education (Grades 7-12 Generalist) Master’s Degree Program


What?
Qualified students complete an 8.5 month residency within the Syracuse City School District and receive a $15,000 Stipend in exchange for a commitment to teach in the Syracuse City School District.

Why?
The SCSD is committed to finding the most highly qualified teacher candidates to teach our students.

Who?
Certified teachers either in NYS or out of state who have a rich background in urban education and are looking to contribute to a diverse teaching population.

What?
A fully paid Master’s Degree from the School of Education at Syracuse University in exchange for a 5 year commitment to teacher in the Syracuse schools.

The SCSD is committed to finding the most highly qualified, diverse teacher candidates to teach our students.

Who?
SCSD teachers who are interested in exploring a career in school administration.


What?
For qualified candidates, the SCSD will guarantee tuition vouchers to pay for up to 50% of the cost of tuition for the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership.

Why?
The SCSD believes in supporting teachers on their continued professional growth.

Who?
Students from historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged backgrounds enrolled in a full time teacher preparation program at SUNY Oswego


What?
Students complete a two-semester residency experience in the Syracuse City Schools in exchange for a commitment to teach in the SCSD.  Students receive a $10,000 stipend during their residency year and also have the opportunity to earn additional money by substitute teaching.

Why?
The SCSD is committed to finding the most highly qualified, diverse teachers to teach our students.
